1. Maintenance Repair Worker

Many of the odd jobs a maintenance and repair worker might tackle require knowledge of skilled trades such as carpentry and plumbing. Workers should be in good physical shape and they must be able to lift heavy objects and work with complex tools. Customer service skills and general computer knowledge are useful as well.

2. Wind Turbine Technician

Wind turbine technicians are the professionals in charge of inspecting and maintaining wind turbines. Most of their work days are spent high above the ground in a turbine performing maintenance or troubleshooting the turbine’s electrical, mechanical or hydraulic components. The Bureau of Labor Statistics expects the wind turbine technician profession to grow exponentially.

3. Sheet Metal Worker

Beyond the tools of the trade, sheet metal workers need good critical-thinking skills, coupled with a solid understanding of mathematics and exceptional hand-eye coordination. While a degree is not required, around 1,000 hours of OSHA certified training is a must.

4. Executive Assistant

For people who are expert multitaskers and enjoy a range of administrative responsibilities, this job can be the perfect fit. Duties can involve high-level support or clerical functions such as scheduling meetings and writing letters.

5. Electrician

This is a job that offers a solid salary and the potential for being your own boss after paying your dues, so to speak. Many electricians learn the tricks of the trade through an apprenticeship or while attending a technical school before on-the-job training. The anticipated high growth is due to continuing demand for people who know how to do things from rewiring an outlet to an entire commercial building.

6. Paralegal/Legal Assistant

This is a job that involves research, document preparation and other duties to help an attorney represent their client in court, at hearings and in meetings. While some law firms do prefer a bachelor’s degree for their paralegals, some will hire those who have an associate’s degree.
